Garagh Grian
Born 2.6.2009
Brisk little lady Caragh Grian
was named after the Celtic sun goddess. She is
the result of careful line breeding and time
will show how she matures. Right now I'm very
pleased!
Grian has grown and developed
well. After her dam's untimely death she is even
more precious to the breeder.
Grian was shown at the horse
board's assessment 3.6.2010. She got very high
point score 99888/42 and I premium as well as
Best in Show title.
Grian won her class at the Breed
Show on July 10th with first class premium. She
was also Junior Champion, Best pony bred in
Finland as well as Reserve Supreme Champion just
like her brother Caragh Gaoithe last year. Grian
and Gaoithe would make their dam Innellan Gem
proud!
Grian was injured around new
year 2010-2011 when tibia of her off hindleg
fractured. It took months to heal and
complications followed in the form of laminitis
to off front hoof. The injury left marks also to
her hind knee and hock but so far she is coping
pretty well. Her showing career is over before
it even started properly, but luckily she was
able to participate inspection in the beginning
of October 2012. Despite of all her earlier
troubles she was able to move better than many
and got excellent marks; 9 for type, 9 for head
neck & body, 7 for limbs and movements
correctness (with comments from the injuries), 8
for walk, 8 for trot and 8 for canter. With
these marks she got first premium - almost
unbelievable after all that had happened!
Now Grian is in foal to Coosheen Finnegan and if
everything goes well the foal is expected in
mid-June 2013.
